Information we collect
Account information: the email and optional company name you provide at signup or that an operator adds on your behalf. Phone number: only if you choose to verify one for SMS permit alerts, via Twilio Verify. Request metadata: your IP address, used transiently to enforce rate limits and never stored beyond a short-lived counter.
How we use it
To operate your account (issuing and authenticating API keys), process billing through Stripe, deliver the notifications you explicitly subscribe to, and respond to support requests. We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use it to serve ads.
Third-party processors
We rely on a small number of providers to run the Service: Stripe (billing), Twilio (SMS delivery and phone verification), Railway (hosting), Cloudflare (DNS), and Anthropic (AI-assisted discovery of new city data sources, which processes public municipal web pages — not your personal account data). Each only receives what it needs to perform its function.
How we handle permit data
Permit records come from public municipal open-data portals. Before a residential permit is ever stored, we replace an individual homeowner or applicant's name with "Private Individual" — we never store or serve a private individual's real name. Commercial contractor and business names, which carry no privacy restriction, are retained as published.
Data retention
We retain account and billing records for as long as your account is active, plus a reasonable period afterward for legal and accounting purposes. Ingested permit data is retained to keep the API's history useful, consistent with the license terms of the source municipality.
Your rights
You can request a copy of, correction to, or deletion of your account data at any time via our support page. We'll respond within a reasonable time.
Cookies and tracking
This website does not set tracking cookies or run third-party analytics. The API itself is stateless aside from the rate-limit counters described above.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
